Alex (Morley) Brown is a former international 5* event rider and accredited Equestrian Australia NCAS Level 1 coach.

Having started riding her parent’s horses at the tender age of 4, Alex grew up with horses in England. She started competing in pony club and riding club events from the age of 6, excelling across all disciplines.

In her teens, Alex developed a focus and passion for eventing and over the following years her successes included  National Riding Club ODE Champion, BE Novice (2*) Eventing Champion, Great Britain Universities National Champion and member of their GB Nations Cup team.

After completing a dual honours BSc in Biochemistry and Physiology at University, Alex decided to take a year out to base herself with her trainer in order to “follow her dreams” and focus full-time on eventing. That year extended to more and consolidated her passion for eventing and set her on the path to competing at the highest international levels over the next decade.

During this time Alex competed at the top level and ran her own yard, competing and training both her own and clients’ horses as well as teaching and bringing on young horses to help fund her career. Her extensive experience includes bringing on horses from unbroken to successfully competing up to 4* and 5* levels. She brought her Badminton horse as a 6 yr old novice and took him through the levels to complete his first CCI5*  at just 9 yrs old. They went on to complete Badminton, including jumping clear and placing, over the next 5 consecutive years - a feat achieved by very few horses, as well as achieving Olympic qualifications.

Alex has successfully competed on a wide range of different horses at all levels from Novice to Advanced and has been placed at international 3-day events from CCI1*to CCI5*.

Alex’s achievements include:

  • Competing at the very highest level, representing Great Britain at home and in Europe.

  • Top 10 placings at all levels from CCI1* to CCI4*and regularly ranked on the eventing leaderboard

  • Long listed on the British team for the 1997 European Championships

  • Received an ‘Armada dish’ from HRH the Queen for successfully completing (including placing at) the prestigious CCI5* Badminton International 3-Day Event on 5 consecutive years.

After retiring from high level competition, Alex took a change of direction and focused on a “proper" career!  During this time she emigrated to Australia and following an initial break from horses, Alex has now come full circle and re-ignited her passion for riding and training.

A move to the beautiful Byron Bay hinterland in late 2016 has helped cement this and Alex is once again fully immersed in the equestrian community - riding, training and coaching full-time.
